North Africa

Kenyan based organization that promotes the rights, inclusion, and dignity of sexual and gender minorities, with a specific focus on lesbian, bisexual, and queer (LBQ) women and gender non-conforming persons. Based in the coastal region (Mombasa) but operating across several counties, INEND utilizes research, advocacy, and training to challenge discriminatory attitudes and laws.
SMUG/USA is a USA/IRS - 501c3 non-profit corporation. It's purpose as an LGBTI+ Rights NGO is to support the activities and programs of on the ground in Uganda and East Africa.

A lesbian-led, West African-based organization that fosters solidarity, safety, and activism for LGBTIQ youth. QAYN works to strengthen capacity for sexual rights advocacy and provides secure digital platforms for community building in countries like Nigeria and Burkina Faso.

Rightify Ghana which was established in February 2020, is a non-profit organisation that works to deliver high quality programmes and services to empower LGBTQI+ persons through advocacy, human rights education, personal development activities, counselling, mentoring and community support activities. Also, we focus on empowering the youth to build safe and inclusive communities for the vulnerable.
Amplified Voices Initiative Ghana empowers trans women through art, fostering safe spaces for expression, dialogue, and community change.
Courageous Sisters Ghana has been committed to fostering a safe and inclusive environment where LBQTGNC individuals can access resources, build community, and advocate for their rights. The organization operates with intersectional feminist principle, acknowledging and addressing the multiple layers of discrimination and marginalization experienced by individuals within the community, particularly intersecting issues such as patriarchy, disability, and ethnicity.
Central Africa
Feminist and LGBTIQ+ organization in Equatorial Guinea working to increase the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community, combat social exclusion, and provide psychological support in the face of discrimination.
Organization creating a safe space for sexual and gender minorities to connect, grow, and be empowered. Providing essential healthcare, social services, and shelter to marginalized community members, bringing at-risk Cameroonians together.
South Africa
South Africa's second oldest LGBTQ+ organization providing free health services to queer people.
Organization In Capetown offering a range of services to LGBTQI+ communities. These include physical and mental health services, public education and training services, community outreach, and court support to survivors of hate crimes.
African lesbian, bisexual and queer organisation in South Africa, established in 2002, to create safe spaces and to advocate for the rights of black lesbian, queer, and gender non-conforming women in all of their diversity.
A pioneering South African non-profit organization, founded in 2005 as the first in Africa to focus solely on the transgender and gender-diverse community. Based in Cape Town, it operates regionally to promote the rights, visibility, and empowerment of trans persons. GDX focuses on advocacy, legal reform, access to health services, and educational initiatives.
African Diaspora
A worldwide federation of over 2,000 organizations from more than 160 countries campaigning for LGBTQI human rights. They advocate for equality, produce research on laws affecting queer communities, and promote the empowerment of local grassroots activists across the globe.
A network of members from all five subregions of Africa working to unite, strengthen and empower trans movement building on the continent to speak with one unified voice. They work to support local and grassroots trans movements to advocate for the rights, safety, healthcare and representation of transgender Africans.
A network of queer youth activists mobilising, supporting and amplifying the voice of LGBTQI+ youths, building visibility and strategic networks supporting the LGBTQI+ youth movement in Africa.
Human Rights Watch is increasingly applying its research methodology to economic, social, and cultural rights, particularly in the areas of education and housing. Human Rights Watch has also begun using statistical research, satellite photography, and bomb-data analysis, among other new methodologies. Combining its traditional on-the-ground fact-finding with new technologies and innovative advocacy keeps Human Rights Watch on the cutting edge of promoting respect for human rights worldwide.
